There was an exhibit wherein the visitor could program a robot in an attempt to guide it to a target. We thought there should be a reward for a successful attempt. So I made this sign for the exhibit that would whirl and flash if the visitor hit the target.
This is a picture of the sign’s second home. They redid the Robot Park exhibit, and the wooden pole that you see was one of the additions. I had to cut the sign in half and re-attach it to the wall.
Here is a collage of the sign so that the details are visible. As you can see, it’s built from a bunch of junk. The gray wheels are from a LEGO set; the little motor below the “K” is from an old VCR; the timer relays were removed from an older exhibit; the center for the “O”s were decorative elements from still another scrapped exhibit.
I don’t have a video of the sign in its second home, but this was taken in the shop before I cut it in half for re-installation. Also, this video affords a thrilling behind-the-scenes view of my workbench in the shop!
