With this display, the visitor could position the camera on the end of the arm and take a picture of their ear. Then they could use the computer program to compare their ears to the general population’s. It was actually pretty popular. Originally, the system had been set up to do noses, but it got very few hits. Ears? Great! Noses? No thank you. Go figure. You can see the original drawing for the EarCam boom here.
As was a common theme in those days, I had about zero dollars for this display. I think the only thing we paid for was the Corian insert that sits on top and the graphics. The graphics were done by an outside company, and they were… underwhelming.
